Native Parks is made up of businesses and properties that would like to meet and interact with travellers as they tour New Zealand in rental motorhomes, be it for business or personal reasons.

Refered to as Motorhome Havens, your business, what you do and how to find you will be published annually in the Native Parks guidebook at no cost to you. The guidebook is made available through subscription to rental motorhome travellers and provides them with a place to overnight free of charge and without obligation. The network is built on personal relationships where the tone is one of introduction. This relationship forms a potent medium for you to present your products and services to prospective customers.

Key features are:

  • No costs are incurred by the Motorhome Havens.
  • Motorhome Havens set the maximum number of parks and the periods that they can be accessed.
  • Overnight parking is free of charge and without obligation for the motorhome traveller.
  • Motorhomes arrive at least one hour before sunset and may stay a maximum of 24-hours.
  • Motorhome Havens are only accessable to fully self-contained motorhomes - no mess.
  • No facilities required, just a on area to parking.
  • Travellers arrive on a first come basis, no bookings or reservations. When all parks are occupied late comers are required to move on.
  • Travellers are solely responsible for the safety of their property and person at all times.
  • Travellers are guided by a code of conduct and understand that due to circumstances they may not be able to be accommodated at a Motorhome Haven.
  • Listings are flexible, make it work for you.

What we provide you

  • Your business, what you do and how to find you is published in a guidebook. The guidebook is produced annually and is available from the 1st of September.
  • Signage (200mm x 200mm) that identifies you as a Native Parks Motorhome Haven. Signage is optional if your business signage is clearly visable from the roadside.
  • A complementary Native Parks subscription, which includes the guidebook.

What you provide us

  • Assess the suitability of your property to be a motorhome haven. Can you provide parking on relatively flat, stable ground in an environment that will allow for a restful night’s stay for the motorhome traveller?
  • Complete the Motorhome Havens membership form. Our 2006 - 2007 edition is proving to be a popular option for travellers and we will be reprinting again early in the 2007 New Year. Please submit this form at your earliest convience to ensure your inclusion in this years guidebook.
  • Personal interaction with the motorhome traveller welcoming them to your property and business, introducing yourself, viewing their Native Parks ID card and directing them to the parking area.

Details printed in the guidebook

  • Your name(s) – how you prefer to be addressed.
  • Your business and what your business does.
  • Directions to your property.
  • The number of parking sites and whether there is access to shade in the parking area.
  • Any foreign languages spoken.
  • Any facilities – meals, electricity, rubbish or toilet disposal.
  • Whether your property is accessible to vehicles over 6 metres.
  • Notice of difficult approach to your property and parking area, for instance steep gradient or narrow access.
  • Description of roadside signage and the presence of the Native Parks signage.
  • Special notes - these are special instructions, i.e. Please phone before visiting.
  • Your website address - a great way to raise awareness with travellers and their friend before, during and after their holiday in New Zealand.
